Good Food Month 2014 has concluded
The inaugural Brisbane Times Good Food Month presented by Citi is over for this year.
From July 1 to July 31, Good Food Month showcased the best Brisbane and regional restaurants, cafes, bars and producers, with everything from Let’s Do Lunch to Hats Off Dinners, Pop-ups & Parties, Bar Hop and more.
The countdown to a month of good food began when Fairfax Events bought the world famous chef, Ferran Adria, formerly of Spain’s El Bulli to Brisbane in April.
After announcing that Good Food Month was on the way, Adria outlined his ethos, food philosophy and future plans to a captivated audience at QGOMA (Queensland Gallery of Modern Art).
Good Food Month also presented the opportunity for food lovers and keen cooks to watch Australia’s most highly esteemed chefs in action. An Afternoon with the Stars featured Peter Gilmore of the 3-hatted Quay in Sydney, Andrew
McConnell of Cutler & Co; Golden Fields and more in Melbourne, as well as Brisbane’s own Ryan Squires of Esquire, the city’s only 3-hatted restaurant.
On July 17, the Night Noodle Markets transformed the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank, winning the hearts and stomachs of Brisbane food lovers of all ages. An average of 15,000 people a night streamed through the gates over 11 nights, feasting on Asian-inspired dishes from soba noodles to dumplings, roti to yakitori.
Good Food Month will be back next year; even bigger and more spectacular. Make sure to sign up to Foodie News for regular updates all year round.
